05/12/10-Doc Possum Live Summer Show Dates Announced!

11/11/09-DOC POSSUM HITS NASHVILLE< RECORDS AT SPUTNIK AND HAS NEW SONG TO BOOT!
Local singer/song writer and family friendly musical recording/performing artist David Cavallaro aka Doc Possum has announced the release of his latest single entitled “Right Time”.
The song’s lyrics were inspired by the push to seek a solution to the Corning-Painted Post School districts facilities conditions with the approval of the latest proposal which is going before the public for a vote on December 15th.
I hope the song will help to raise the awareness that is needed to get the people in the voting booths and give the green light to a serious issue which has hung around far too long. Our children deserve better and it’s time we put that in the forefront rather than the politics that have always gotten in the way “said Cavallaro.
Cavallaro enlisted the help of Grammy Award winning producer Mitch Dane (Jars of Clay, JJ Heller) to help bring his message to life and both Dane and Cavallaro are quite pleased with the results. “I have been meaning to work with Mitch for the past two years and lucky for me that the time just happened to be there for both of us to get this tracked and ready to get out to the people” Cavallaro said.
The song was recorded at Dane’s Sputnik Studios in Nashville Tennesee and features Christian music artist Andrew Osenga (Caedmon’s Call) on electric rhythm/lead Guitars, Josh Beard on acoustic Guitar /Back-up vocals, and Josh Un-Beard on Drums.

8/28/09- DOC POSSUM RELEASES SUPPORT SONG "RIGHT TIME" FOR C-PP FACILITIES PLAN!

I wrote this song in support of the Corning-Painted Post School District's Facilities Plan that will be up for public vote in December 2009. This is the acoustic demo version and I plan on recording a full treatment with & including Mike Edger's musical contributions as soon as we can get in the studio together.

Hope to have a full on support rally as well where we can perform this live along with some other Doc Possum favorites and share the night with the Joe Cavallaro's Dixieland Jazz Band (my dad) so it will be a night just like the songs says where it's "something for everyone".

Showing support for something we feel is long over due and greatly in need for the future of our children's education. Vote Yes to the C-PP Facilities Plan in December 2009!

03/07/09- DOC POSSUM IS BACK FOR 2009!
although it may seem like Doc has been playing possum this past year rest assured that 2009 will see the return to song and stage for another round of melodic magic! Doc is currently booking for the spring/summer tour and excited to see old friends and of course make some new ones along the ways!
Be sure to check out the news & gigs section which will be continuously updated with all the latest and greatest from Possum land.

08/25/05- UPCOMING DOC POSSUM PROJECTS !
Well it's the end of summer and with that another year half over and man what a great one it's been so far!
I traveled to NYC to meet the Noggin people finally, was in discussions to hop on the Jamarama live tour and best of all got to take the kid's show and rock it out at CBGB's down in the city. Had the pleasure to be joined by "Lightning Larry" who is beyond incredible on guitar  and it added a great new level to the music.
Looking into the future it's should be another exciting next couple of months. My first goal is to get the next CD recorded and ready to get out there along with some video work and hopefully the debut of the first installment in a series of books based on the "Pouch Music" songs. Of course doing live shows is a major part in it all so I will be aiming to put together members of the band for the next round of fun and getting the new music (along with the favorites) out there for us all to Rock out to.
Until then be sure to check back on the site for the latest updates and feel free to drop me a line!

- FALL FUN!
Just a quick note wishing everyone a Happy Halloween! Doc Possum has always had a great time with our shows and get togethers this time of year and it always reminds me of former Possum Drummer Jeff who used to go all out for this holiday. I used to think that was odd that it was his favorite holiday but the times have caught up with him and I can understand it now, nothing but fun fun fun!
As always this year has been a lot of work behind the scenes and hopefully I can make an official announcement sometime here in the near future but for now just let me say that things are going great, some very exciting possibilities are still being considered and worked out including new songs, new CD's, new shows, and a whole new year ahead for Doc Possum. So as always please "Stay Tuned"-Doc

10/08/05
- ON THAT NOTE!
Just got back from doing a show at the local PRC to help celebrate their premium membership program and as usual I had a blast. it's a lot of fun to get out there and do some nice scaled back acoustic shows and I look forward to many more in the future.
For those who are interested it looks like some things have changed over at the "major kid's network" this past week but I am told there is still strong interest and as soon as their schedule is in place that we will be good to go. I think it would be great if it worked out but I look at it more as gravy and doing what I am doing now is the main meat & potato course of this musical feast.
It looks like we may be doing some b-day and holiday parties for the upcoming season so get your requests in today!
catch all again real soon and in the meantime please don't forget to sign the guestbook! ttfn-Doc

- FALLING FOR FALL 2005!
Ok looks like I am getting better at keeping this updated since the last post was less than a month ago. Hope this fall is finding favor with you and yours, it's certainly been an exciting one for me and mine. To start off I was able to take my family up to the Inaugural IRL race at Watkins Glen for the Indy Cars. I have always been a big Indy Car fan and now that they were coming so close we just couldn't wait to get up to the Glen and catch the action. Impressive and awesome can not even describe our experience. The kids got to meet most all the drivers and take some pictures and I even had a little one on one time with Danica Patrick. I hope to be able to post some pictures from our great weekend and I encourage everyone to be sure and try to get up to the track next year.
Musically speaking not a lot has changed with the exception of getting started an a couple of new songs and it looks like there is a chance (slim perhaps) of joining a national children's music tour but right now just like everything else nothing final is in place. I have been in touch with the "Interested Network" and I am told that the green light is still flashing and that the contracts are being drawn up as we speak but as with most things in life it's better not to try to look ahead and instead concentrate on the now.
Good thing they call me Doc because I certainly have had enough patience over these past 2 months with all of this going on-lol, Anyhow thanks for all the kind words and support along the way and I promise to make a big splash and let everyone know what if anything transpires from it all. Till then-TTFN!

04/05- WHAT A COOL COOL SUMMER!
Man the Summer of 2005 has come and went so fast that its still making my head turn. So much fun over this past summer let met ell you and the rest of the year and beyond looks like it will be the most exciting yet for Doc Possum.
This summer was of course about the music and man was there some great shows along the way. thanks to everyone who came out to Summer Recreation celebrations, the Beach Party on Centerway and the 2nd annual bookfest. These among other shows were a blast as usual.
I was also able to spend my time coaching the second annual Doc Possum Cinderella softball team as well as the local Corning 8/under All-Star team. Yes it's official I am now a softball junkie and loving it. The girls were awesome and I can't wait for next year. Hopefully my schedule will allow me to be involved. I also had the pleasure to coach a couple of camps for the local YMCA (softball & punt, pass, kick) and finally commit some time in taking over as the YMCA's Stage kid's director. Once again enough can't be said about all of the talented kid's we have in our area, very impressive and made for a great time. Hopefully more can be done.
Musically this year has been the most successful for me and it still continues. I was put in touch with the people over at "A Major Children's Television Network" and they were interested in getting their eyes and ears on a video. I hooked up with the crew at WENY and within a couple of weeks we had some great visuals to put behind the songs "ABC" & "Cheeseman". They were e-mailed off to the channel and the kicker is this. They told me personally that they love the music and want some new videos for Doc Possum for placement on their network. They would like to have their network be the "Home of Doc Possum". Plans are currently in the making for that to happen along with talks with he people over at another large children's record outlet so don't hold your breath but this could really be a biggie!
Until all that happens I will be right here bashing away at my guitar coming up with some more tunes to keep us all smiling and dancing!-STAY TUNED

10/05- 2005 HERE AND READY!
Wow it is 2005 already and man what a way we kicked off the new year with our shown down at CenterWay Square. It was indeed a massive turnout and as one person remarked "resembled a mini-U2 concert" (Pics coming soon!). Let me tell you I am so thankful for the support and it's definitely been a pleasure helping to fill a need for family entertainment. The turnout really showed that there is a void to fill and I will continue to plug away with various projects for our strong family based communities throughout the nation.
Alot of things planned for 2005 and although they may not all come to completion let me just mention a couple of exciting projects that you may be hearing about soon. First is the Doc Possum TV show which hopefully will be hitting the airways this spring, more on that later, also in the Spring I might be teaching a few classes on guitar instruction and the history of music, of course another CD or two are planned this year. I would like to put out 3 various ones but let's just see if I can get one out-lol. The songs are already written but it's just a case of which direction to go. Last but not least is are the Live shows. New things added and hopefully only getting better as time goes by. As always- STAY TUNED!

05/04- Here Comes 2005!
Wow has the past couple of months flown by and here we are in the holiday season already! I hope everyone is enjoying this time of year and I want to be sure to thank everyone who came out to the CMOG for the Halloween party and down at Centerway Square for the Tree Lighting Ceremony. It's great to always play to such a big, enthusiastic crowd and in case you weren't there you missed the debut performance of Spencer singing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town".
Of course there is always new projects coming up so please stay tuned and I hope to see you all real soon!

22/04- GAFFER GHOULS GET DOWN!
This time of the year is already upon us and what better way to start off the holiday season then with an appearance at this years Gaffer District Halloween Party being held at the Corning Museum of Glass. Doc Possum kicks off it's show at 6:30pm in the museum's auditorium! Check out the gaffer page here for all the other events for the day!
As for other news within the Possum world be sure to stay tuned for some exciting announcements that I can't wait to let you in on!

11/04- FALLING FOR FALL!
Well another month has came and went and summer is just about out of here already, but it sure is putting up a fight. The weather has been beautiful the past couple of weeks! Last night I had the pleasure to perform again at The Calvin Smith school and I would like to thank everyone for coming out and making the show a success. I really had a great time and it was nice to see a lot of familiar faces and some new ones digging the possum tunes. I was joined by Lori Barrett who did a great job whacking the tambourine and keeping the kids moving and grooving. She also has a great voice and hopefully will get a chance to put it to use more with another show. So thanks again Lori, Kelly and everyone else from CS! You guys rocked!
A update just wouldn't be right without an update on what's coming up. I am still in talks with the Character Counts program about a partnership so something may come of that, but even if it doesn't  I have developed a show based on the traits and hopefully will be getting that out there and all around the region. I am also in the writing mode and I would like to make a new release possible by x-mas, just not sure which format yet. For all those old school Possum fans who are demanding something loud you may be in for a surprise. I just may have to remind  people that although I love playing for the kid's/families, that I still am not too old to rock it out a bit-lol

07/
26/04- WEST FEST & BEYOND!
Wow what a great weekend of music1 I was fortunate enough to make a return engagement to the Rock Well Museum's West Fest on both Saturday & Sunday and it was definitely a pleasure to see some familiar faces and to meet some new ones. I worked a few old cowboy standards and threw on a cowboy hat for the event. The crowds were outstanding on both days and to top it off I got to run down the street and catch the band 1962 who do Beatles songs from their early days and I was totally impressed. The next day in fact I was graced on stage by the presence of Mr. Dave Pal who portrays John Lennon. We did a rendition of Twist and Shout and of course he was dead on (thanks again Dave and good luck over in Liverpool!)
Just want to be sure to thank Cindy and Rick and the rest of the staff from the Rockwell Museum as well as the Artsfest event staff for having Doc Possum back and I look forward to next year.
As a side note I would like to thank Mike Edger for playing bass at the full band shows over the past year or so. Mike is taking a break from playing however you may see him here or there at some of our upcoming shows. In the meantime I am turning my attention to getting the next CD out and now it looks like everything is in place for that to happen.
As always, STAY TUNED!

07/
11/04- Daycare Debut
Things are keeping quite busy this summer so far. I had the pleasure to play for Diana's Daycare on 7/7 and it was indeed a great time. Great group of kids who did an excellent job sharing the drum/percussion duties that were passed around and great voices helped make the music sound even better. We did some of their favorites off the Pouch Music CD as well as getting "All Shook UP" and other favs. To top it all off they even presented me with a batch of artwork that they had prepared and let me just say that I am very grateful and impressed with the job they did. I hope to get pictures from the show up as well as the artwork soon!
thanks again guys!

20/04- Summer Tour Kicks Off
Man what a great week of Possum Music. First off we were down in Sayre, Pa for their weekly Wed night concert series at Elmer Park and what a great crowd we had. The park in itself is just such a great setting and one of the nicest I have seen. It reminded me of the park scene in Lady & the Tramp. We were thrilled to be able to play to a very kid populated crowd and we made some friends that night. Looking forward to going back next year.
The next morning I had the pleasure of going into my daughters kindergarten class and doing a acoustic show for them. as expected they did a great job singing along and requesting their favorites off the Pouch Music CD.
Next it was off to Lindley-Presho Elementary for their end of the year picnic. We got there early to set-up and had a chance to shoot a few hoops and play a game of Doc (horse) and then grab some food. The lunch was top notch thanks to the grilling skills of custodian Mr. David Ballard and lunch crew who gave us way more than enough. Soon it was time to play and although it sprinkled a bit, we were still able to do the show outdoors. Talk about humid and hot though, but we didn't let that slow us down and the crowd stuck with us the whole way thru. Another great crowd and show and another one we look forward to next year.
Finally Saturday came around and it was time for our big outdoor show at Corning's Riverfront Park. This was a free show we were doing and were hoping for a big turnout. The weather didn't want to cooperate with us and it looked like it wasn't going to happen but just an hour or so before show time, the skies cleared and it turned out to be one beautiful day. I had Lori and Luanne (great job ladies!) do a opening set for us and one by one the people trickled in. It actually turned out to be a good size crowd and those on hand really got into the show. I can only imagine how many more people would have been there if so much wasn't going on in the area and the weather wasn't as gloomy at first, so we are excited about trying it again maybe as an end to summer type deal. Special thanks to Stephen, David and Katlin for doing a great job. Now it's time to get ready for our West Fest date at Corning's Rockwell Museum in July where I hope to unveil some Possum renditions of those great cowboy songs.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeee-hahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
till then,
Doc

/04-Good Day Sunshine!
The sun has decided to show more often this past week and that's really getting things in gear for some outside shows coming up over the next few months. Speaking of shows, I would like to throw out a big thanks to everyone at Gregg School Elementary in Corning, NY for recently having us perform and man let me tell you they were one great audience.
It was the first time since our New Years Eve show in Binghamton that we performed as a group and it was nice to know that the energy and fun had never left us. Big thanks to Mike and AC for making the gig and doing what they do best. Speaking of Mike and AC, let me say that there are no 2 other musicians that I would rather be having then those two by my side. They both bring an unmatched enthusiasm and charisma come Showtime and I think the three of us gel better than Elvis's Hair. I enjoy each performance that they can make and hopefully there will be more along the way. Way to go guys!

03/04-Spring Tour Underway
Yeah it's Spring and we actually have already had a couple of nice sunny days. The best part of Spring for me theses days is getting set to start the next tour and spread the music of Doc Possum tall around. This years tour already kicked off with an appearance at Kent Phillips Elementary School's Author's Workshop. Had a great time telling the story behind the songs and how and get motivated and inspired to write. I also was able to debut the solo format which will be the main staple of most of the upcoming Possum shows this year. I love the band format of course but playing solo allows for a bit more interaction and gives the audience a chance to hear the songs the way they were written, of course I will have some backing tracks for some songs so you still get the same rockin' good feeling. I hope to be all about here, there and everywhere so if you are interested in a show be sure to drop me a line or call the possum hotline! (607-542-5443). Check for the gigs page for all the dates and hope to see you all soon!

3/
13/04-Still Here!
March Already as this new year is streaking by us. Added some more dates to the calendar and I will have some make-up dates for the two shows we missed due to me getting the winter flu and all. Not a lot new to report on recordings, I basically have the line-up of songs ready to go and just need to fine-tune them and then lay down the tracks. As mentioned earlier, this CD will be back to the melodic rock sound of some earlier Possum stuff and I think everyone of all ages should enjoy it. As far as the next kid's/family CD goes, perhaps a live one and I am still planning on doing the Christmas one later this summer. Hope to see you all soon!

2/
07/04-Coming UP!

This new year is really moving by fast, seems like only yesterday when I made my last update but it's been a month already. Still in the middle of trying to line up all the projects for this coming year and prioritize what's doable and what may have to go on hold. At this point I think releasing a new "kid's" CD is put on the back burner since the demand is still out there for Pouch Music and there is some unfinished business so to speak. Gigs for the Pouch Show are already lining up for this year Spring.
I have been in contact with the Character Counts group out in California and we are still in the middle of trying to iron out a partnership proposal and get that approved. I think it would be very beneficial for everyone involved and would really put a nice theme on our school shows.
I am still trying to find the time to write some new songs and rework some older ones and possibly finish up the Pulse sessions. I personally seemed to have reached that point in my life where I feel the need to recognize and appreciate the spiritual side of life and that is basically what the Pulse CD will be about when and if it ever gets finished.
As for other projects, I am working on doing some acoustic stuff as well as doing a Beatle tribute before the year is up and hopefully have time to record a Doc Possum Christmas CD to put out in time for the holidays. In the meantime feel free to drop me a line and I look forward to seeing you all soon!

1/07/04-Hello 2004!

What a great year 2003 was. I still have to take a deep breath and throw out "thank you's" all around when I think back on everything that was accomplished with the Pouch Music CD. It went beyond my expectations and I my appreciation goes out to everyone who picked up a CD, t-shirt, came to see us live, checked us out online and more. Of course I want to thank AC and Mike for being part of the Live Shows and helping to bring them alive (Go Cheeseman!) I also want to thank everyone who has booked us and gave us a chance to present the music live.
As far as 2004 goes, I actually have alot of options and in fact I am a bit overwhelmed by them and will be deciding which ones to pursue over the next couple of weeks. Personally what I would like to see happen is to finalize the CD I was working on before the "Pouch Music". It's not a kid's CD per say but I have found that you only limit your audience when you start to label yourself so I will just say that is more in line with the Melodic Rock that people have come to know Doc Possum for. I am anxious to get my Rickenbacker some more live action under it's belt and and have an excuse to get a VOX Valvetronix stack so yes I plan on playing with the band and we will see who I am fortunate enough to be joined with onstage. It may be some familiar faces or some new ones, time will tell. Of course there is also a talk of a solo acoustic tour and then the Doc Possum 10 year anniversary, and then-uggh see what I mean alot of stuff coming up.
Stay Tuned!

12/15-Happy Holidays Everyone!
This year is certainly flying by quite fast, it's hard to believe that we will soon be celebrating Christmas and ringing in the new year with our last performance of the year at the First Night in Binghamton. This year has really been great and I look forward to doing it all again next year with even more projects and surprises in tow. I hope you and yours has a happy and safe holidays and I look forward to seeing and hearing from you in the coming year. Till then,
Doc

10/31-Happy Halloween Everyone!
Just dropping a quick note letting you know what's been going on with Doc Possum over the past month. Of course we are still out doing shows from our Pouch Music tour and recently we have the pleasure of performing at Erwin Valley & Calvin U. Smith Elementary schools along with a stint at the Schyluer County Strong Kids Safe Kids and a return engagement at The Corning Museum's Kid's Night Out show. Of course we had a blast performing at the Northside Halloween spooktacular and hope everyone has a safe and fun Hallows Eve. Coming up shows to round out the year include shows at All-Saints Academy and Campbell Savona Elementary and proud to announce we have been selected as one of the performers for Binghamton's First Night Out New Years Eve celebration. Yes we have been busy but I hope to keep the gates coming and double the frequency and spread out the distance so we can bring the show all over the surrounding states and then some. Time Warner has added our live show at the museum of glass back into their local programming so check your listings, I think it is on Wed nights and Saturday mornings. I have some more video to edit that I hope to have up soon as well. As always alot of things are in the works so please be sure to check the gigs page and stay tuned!

9/13-DOC SAYING HELLO!
Well what can I say, we are back from our little vacation and starting to focus on our current and upcoming live performances. This past week we had the pleasure to perform at Erwin Valley Elementary both for a full school afternoon show and a evening show for the kindergartners and new families. It was by all account a great time and we look forward to our other upcoming school gigs an dour big show this Friday (9/19) at the Corning Museum of Glass's Kid's Night out. It will be a blast for sure. We also ordered some new equipment that will be making it's debut and I have been very busy behind the scenes trying to put together some events and things that you hopefully will be hearing about soon. Until then be sure to check out the "Pouch Music" CD and of course we would love to see you at one of our upcoming shows.
Till then-Doc

8/16-MORE FUN IN THE SUN!
Ok this is supposed to be vacation but even when we are taking a break fun things happen. First off Bass player Mike was blessed with the birth of his second child this past week so a big shout out for that. We will hold off on the details for now out of privacy, but I am sure if you ask Mike in person he will tell you about it. Secondly I have submitted more materials to the Character Counts program out in LA, the goal is to become partners with them in order to spread the word at our live shows (and possible upcoming CD) on the virtues of good character. If everyone followed the six pillars of character then this world would truly be an even cooler place to live. Last and not least I had the pleasure to perform at the opening of Pookie's Little Britches on Market Street in Corning, NY last night and it was a great time. I was joined by AC on drums and although we had a bit of an unwelcome guest join us with his harmonica for a few songs, the show came off great. I of course did songs from our normal Pouch Tour but also threw in some Beatles, Byrds, Elvis and a few others to mix things up since it was a mixed crowd of people. I have played various venues on Market Street easily over 100 times over the years, but this was the first time that I got to do it outside facing the shops and the sound just filled up the whole block. Thanks to Corning Intown promotions for setting it up!

8/16-THANK YOU/COMING UP!

Well we finally ended the first leg of our tour of the Twin Tiers on August 8th and we went out with a bang by doing 2 shows that day, the first at the Rainbow Junction childcare in Penn Yan and later that evening at the Campbell Methodist Church. Both gigs were a great time and will leave us with some fond memories and more incentive to want to get back out there and do what we do best.
I always set goals when I start a music project and I am very happy to announce that those goals and then some have been met since the Pouch Music release. We have played some great venues including the Corning Museum of Glass, Clemens Center, Spring Pond, Toys R Us, local schools, churches and festivals. The CD has been getting some great attention and reviews (one even in the LA TIMES), and 5 of the songs are still in rotation on the Music Choice network. Now it's time to move onto the second set of goals which in a nutshell will brings Doc Possum to even more schools, festivals and churches in the area, see Doc Possum return to the CMOG and Clemens Center, and hopefully more shows on TV!
I would of course like to say thank you to everyone who has helped to make this a reality starting first with my family who are the total inspiration for this whole thing starting up, then to AC Dobson who made himself available and let me bounce some backbeats off of him which helped me to work out the song arrangements, Bill Groome who is my number one man for the studio when I don't record at home and has always been a positive influence in my life, Kevin Hungerford who brought to life my idea of what the cover and logo should look like and he did one stellar job. Mike Edger who helps to bring the live shows alive and has been my performance partner for almost 10 years now-(man,that long?).
Of course the greatest appreciation to everyone who has come to our shows, purchased the CD's and have made this what it is today. You are the best and let me honestly say that there is no better feeling than seeing and hearing young and old alike come to our shows singing the words to the songs off the CD and just having a good time. I promise you all that Doc Possum will constantly strive to make your listening and live show experience one that you will enjoy and remember.
thank you!
-Doc

7/05-It's Summer Time!
Happy 227th America! Now that the Fourth of July has passed summer is really in full swing. Doc Possum has been keeping busy as we just got off from a big week which featured us doing shows at Toys R Us, as well as Spring Pond among others-both were way cool! At the Spring Pond we even did a full set of tunez from the old days. This past week I started my solo summer performance series "A Day With Doc" at Kid's Adventure Club, was a good time and I look forward to the rest of them. Future gigs will be be taking me across the region and many more good times I am sure. I am currently at work behind the scenes setting up our fall schedule which looks to be a load of fun with the local schools and museums all expressing an interest. Lastly I am in the pre-planning stages for some a proposed Doc Possum TV show of some sorts. A lot of choices on what to do but it looks like it could be a load of work and of course fun! Stay Tuned!

 06/14-DOC POSSUM BUSY BUSY SUMMER!
Now that some dates are in place, it looks to be a very busy summer for Doc Possum with many festivals, daycare centers and other great events coming our way. We kick it off next week with the first annual Park Ave. Block Party followed by the All-Saints Fun Fair the next day. The following weekend we get the chance to hook-up with Toys R Us for their Safety Expo 2003 event which we are totally looking for. Doc will be visiting numerous childcare centers over the summer and date shave already been announced for this upcoming school year's performance calendar. 05/30-DOC POSSUM ROCKS OUT LOCAL SCHOOL!
A great time was had by all today as Doc Possum brought their performance to the Kent Phillips Elementary school in Corning, NY. The performance was in honor of the students doing a fantastic job in this years Reading Rally. The band was eager to get the good times started and once the music kicked in the kids sprung to their feet showing us all how well they could Shake, Rattle & Roll. Doc Possum was totally impressed by everyone's fun loving behavior and hope to see them again in  the upcoming school year.

05/23-DOC DOING PERSONAL APPEARANCES/CD SIGNINGS TOUR!
Exciting new offers have started to come in my way that's a bit different from what I have been doing of late and it involves doing in-store and other personal appearances type gigs where I will be set up at a booth/table with plenty of CD's on hand that will be for sale as well as to have them signed there right on the spot along with photo opportunities and I will even be bringing my trusty acoustic along to show how the songs all sounded when they first came to me. I am very excited to be doing these type of shows where I will get to meet some new faces and say hello to some familiar ones and get a chance to talk and say thank you to those who have made this CD a success. The first 2 stops on the tour are coming in June and looks like the rest of the summer is going to fill up quick. Stay tuned to the gigs section for more dates!

05/04-DOC POSSUM GEARING UP FOR THE SUMMER!
Big thanks to everyone who came out to the Clemens Center, it was definitely a blast and we could not have asked for a better turnout. We look forward to doing it again soon. I have been real busy behind the scenes looking to expand the boundaries a bit more by diligently submitting material to various media reviewers while also trying to land some gigs across the area. We are looking to get a mall tour type thing going and so far the reaction has been great and we will soon be bringing our show to the Pyramid Mall in Ithaca and to the Oakdale Mall in Binghamton so be sure to keep checking the gigs page for more details. Until then just waiting for more things to fall in place and hopefully soon will be able to announce some more great news.

03/27-DOC POSSUM TAPED AT WENY TODAY!
Today I had the pleasure to make my way down to the WENY TV studios in Horseheads,NY and tape a segment of the show Twin Tiers Close-Up hosted by Kelly Steele. My friend Rich and I arrived at the studios a little early and hung out a bit before taping with anchorman Jay and Reporter Emily. Once Kelly was set for me, we made our way into the studio and I was immediately hit with images of the Pouch Music Logo on all of their monitors, so things were just very cool all around from the get go (except for the lights-lol) Rich and I took some pics before taping (and some during and after) and then the show kicked off. Kelly asked some great questions and made sure I was able to mention anything important that's coming up or has happened with the release and live shows. I didn't plan on performing but I had my guitar there and said what the hey and went into a short version of ABC. I tried to get Kelly to dance but I think I caught her off guard with it-lol The are going to run some clips from the live video when the show airs and it will be great to see how the whole thing comes together. After the taping we hung out a bit more with Jay and Emily (Go Steelers-lol) and then it was time to head on out. I must say that each time I go in and do some promotions with the local media it's like I walk out truly feeling like I made some new freinds. The show will be aired on Saturday March 29th at 11:30 AM on WENY (time warner cable channel 4)
SEE THE PICS FROM THE TAPING HERE!

2/12- "POUCH MUSIC" RELEASED ON MARCH 4th!

At long last Doc Possum is proud to announce the release of the highly anticipated children's music CD "Pouch Music". The CD features 10 melodic marvels written and performed by David "Doc" Cavallaro over a 2 day period in his home studio this past winter with 2 drum overdubs coming from Mr. AC Dobson recorded at Bill Groome's Corning Studio. The CD is currently ready for order via the website and all the songs can be previewed in the listen section. Doc will be heading out for some gigs starting March 7th so be sure to check the gigs guide and come join the fun! A lot of exciting stuff will be happening over the next few months and we welcome you all to enjoy them with us!

1/23-DOC POSSUM'S "POUCH MUSIC" SET TO ROLL!:

Well the good news is that the recording is done and the finishing touches are being put on the CD in the mixing stage as well as getting all the press kit stuff around and making the website changes all in preparation for the release of the "Pouch Music" CD.
The CD is a 10 song acoustic pop/folk-rock collection that I have put together and geared towards the younger ones out there although in truth 80% of the album is the usual melodic song crafting you have come to expect from Doc Possum and I don't think the adults will be disappointed with it. Basically a fun for the whole family type situation and in fact my slogan for the CD is "Songs for the child inside all of us".
I really hope this CD makes a lot of noise and actually gets somewhere because out of all of my previous releases and songs written, I feel this collection is truly at the top of it's genre and deserves to be up there and I am hopefully that others agree and will enjoying listening to the songs (and buying the CD of course-lol).
I am also eager to get out there and performing the songs live and getting that first hand reaction as to what people think. Depending on the venues, the live shows will be either some solo acoustic gigs with me and my faithful six string or in the trio setting that I have been working on of late with drummer AC Dobson and Mike Edger on bass. The first round of shows will be aimed at family related and kid related venues such as toy stores, museums, schools, libraries, and other performing arts type of situations (if interested in booking just drop me a line).
Well I am anxious to get it out there and all and seeing all your smiling faces at our live shows coming up so be sure to check the website for upcoming gigs and other words of interest. Feel free to drop me a line and let me know what you think.
till then,
Doc

7/03- POUCH MUSIC PICKED AS MP3.COM FEATURED CD!:
More good news concerning the POUCH MUSIC project. I was recently informed that the acoustic demo CD was picked as mp3.com's featured CD in the children's music section. So yes once again I am surprised but as always grateful.  Being a featured CD puts you right up on top of the children's music page along with links to buy the CD directly. The songs keep getting some really good hits and as of today I have had over 1160 unique plays in the last week alone and the first single "I DON'T HAVE A DOG" is still popping up the charts so far reaching the number 6 spot. Still no word back from the 2 record labels I submitted to so unless I hear something within the next couple of weeks, I will begin plans to release it myself.
